FAQ’s

Should I get travel insurance?

Yes, yes, and YES. While travel insurance is optional, we STRONGLY suggest you make the small investment in order to enjoy peace of mind.

As Shannon and I have been on many cruises, the variety of “surprises” that we would never have expected have convinced us that we will never travel without purchasing travel insurance.

When you book your cruise, Shannon will give you all the info and options so you can make the choice that works best for you.

Why is the cruise so expensive?

Cruise lines often advertise the per person rate to get you to click, and then start adding on all the extra fees once you buy. When you double the rate (since you’re a couple, not a per person), add in taxes, port fees, gratuities, processing fees, and travel insurance, you’ll find out the “deal” you were getting isn’t so cheap in the end.

Shannon and I sleep better at night knowing we’re being upfront and honest about the total investment you’re making in your marriage.

Plus, this isn’t just “a cruise”. It’s a “MARRIAGE cruise”. We hope you understand there are additional fees invovled when organizing the workshops, books, materials, speakers, etc…

Can we pay in installments?

Yes. Just talk to Shannon, and she’ll help you get the specifics set up once you make your initial deposit.

Can we bring our children?

No. This experience is designed to help you and your spouse focus on each other. While we love kiddos (we had four of them after all), we want this marriage cruise to be a respite from the day-to-day duties of raising a family.

Do we have to attend ALL the scheduled events?

No. Your time is yours and you can spend it however you wish. Of course, you won’t receive the full benefit of the marriage cruise if you choose to skip some of the workshops. We also understand if you just want a quiet dinner for two or need an afternoon nap.

Will we be allowed to consume alcohol?

You’re free to enjoy a drinks package you’ve purchased as much as you like. Because, it can be highly disruptive to other attendees, (as well as compromize your ability to engage with the workshop materials), we strongly “request” that you do not attend any marriage workshops or events “tipsy”, “buzzed”, intoxicated, or hung over.

Must we be vaccinated against COVID 19 to attend?

Secure Marriage does not require attendees to be vaccinated and we follow all recommendations and requirements laid out by the cruise line. If you need help finding out the specific guidlines for this cruise, please contact Shannon and she’ll help you find the answers you’re looking for.

What about inclement weather?

In order for the cruise line to keep all of it’s passengers and crew safe, they may need to alter course, change iteneraries, change or skip a ports, or cancel a cruise all together due to severe weather.

Because of these “unknowns”, we STRONGLY suggest you purchase travel insurance. (Please remember, Secure Marriage is not responsible for refunding or reimburcing any cruise fees due to cancellations, missed flights, etc…)

I want to go but I'm afraid I might get seasick.

Many cruisers feel mildly nauseated the first day of sailing but acclimate quickly. Here are several ways Shannon has researched to help with motion sickness. If you do experience seasickness that’s not easily addressed, there is a doctor on board.
